Hi. My name is Andrew Sankey and I've been in the Ipswich Methodist Circuit since September 2010. From September 2019 I have pastoral responsibility for 3 churches: Chelmondiston, Holbrook as well as Capel St Mary.
I came to Ipswich from the West Norforlk area, having previously served in the Wirral, in Bristol and a very formative 10 years in Zimbabwe as a Mission Partner.
My priority in ministry is in encouraging commitment to the Lord Jesus and nurturing faith in order to develop witnessing disciples.
I would describe my ministry style as pastoral, informal, encouraging, releasing others for ministry, collaborative and I believe in the importance of Biblical preaching. I try to be open to God and to new ideas. I look for fresh ways of witnessing to God’s love and have an interest in Fresh Expressions of being church. Hospitality is also a central part of my ministry and I try to encourage my churches to have a greater impact on the communities in which they are based.
My family is also a very important part of my life. Together with my wife Margaret we have 4 children (now all married) with 2 grandchildren and another on the way. We have a foster daughter, Melissa, who has been with us since 2005 and is now at High School.
