Our church supports the work of Operation Restoration which is a ministry of Youth With A Mission, working with children and teenagers who live on the streets of Santa Cruz, Bolivia to give them a future. Established in 1991, Operation Restoration now works among the 5,000+ street children that live on the streets of this city. Santa Cruz is one of the fastest growing cities in Latin America, having grown from a population of less than 700,000 in 1991 to more than 2.1 million in 2012.

The focus of Operation Restorations work is to show God’s love in a practical way encouraging children and teenagers between 8 and 17 years of age, who live full-time on the streets, to leave those streets, offering them the opportunity of going into a Reception House, “El Toborochi”, and then going on to one of two Restoration Homes, “El Camino” for boys and “El Alfarero” for girls.

Once in one of the Restoration Homes they return to full-time education, are supported psychologically, socially and spiritually, with the aim of the youngsters coming to a personal knowledge of God and His purpose for their lives, achieving a high school education and preparation for adult life. They then move to our Reintegration Home where they can continue with further education and become established in a local church, as they begin to gain their independence and establish themselves in the society that once rejected them.

All this is achieved through the following:

  1.  First Contacts – street work focused on helping with their most basic needs, especially in the area of First Aid and medical attention
  2. Reception House “El Toborochi” – the initial step off the streets for around 5 days prior to going into one of our Restoration Homes
  3.  Restoration Homes “El Camino” for boys and “El Alfarero” for girls – residential homes for the children/teenagers until they graduate from high school
  4.  Reintegration Home “Torre Fuerte” for boys – a residential home where the youngsters can continue with their further education while working towards their independence.
