Andrew Sankey has been in the Ipswich circuit since September 2010 and has had pastoral responsibilities for 7 of the churches in the circuit (maximum of 5 at any one time). Staffing changes have allowed him to reduce to 3 churches Capel, Chelmondiston and Holbrook.
Andrew is married to Margaret and they celebrate 47 years of marriage this year. They have 4 of their own children, all married, living in Stamford, Poole, Leeds and Cardiff. They currently have 4 grandchildren and are expecting twins in August 2020. They also have Melissa who is 17 this year whom they have fostered since she was 15 months.
He was an engineer by profession then trained for ministry in Bristol and served a church there before 10 years in Zimbabwe. He served in a rural circuit, then the second city, and finally in a small town but with a circuit larger than Suffolk. On return to the UK he was stationed to the Wirral and served there for 10 years. He was then appointed Superintendent at Downham Market and was there 8 years before coming to Capel.
He is committed to outreach and mission, to encouraging others to serve in ministry. Biblical preaching is core. He values working in teams and seeks to be open to God and to new ideas. Margaret shares in ministry with Andrew and is involved in children’s work, home group and is a Parish Occupational Therapist. His prayer is that their final two years in this church and circuit may be fruitful and a blessing.
